MotoAmericans Cameron Beaubier, Joe Roberts and Sean Dylan Kelly will start the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia from the fourth, seventh and 10th rows of the grid, respectively, at the Mandalika Circuit in Southeast Asia on Sunday (Saturday night in the U.S.).

American Racing’s Beaubier fared the best of the three as he made it straight through to Q2 from the free practice sessions. It all went wrong in Q2, however, as Beaubier crashed out of the session on hid third lap, but not before setting what would be the 11th fastest time of the session – a 1:36.900, which was 1.1 seconds off the pole time set by Inde GASGAS Aspar’s Jake Dixon.

Italtrans Roberts just missed a spot in Q2 with his 1:36.905 and he ended the day 19th fastest overall.

Beaubier’s teammate Sean Dylan Kelly will line up in 30th with a best lap of 1:38.225. Kelly has shown speed in wet conditions and was ninth fastest in FP3, but a crash in Q1 hampered his progress.

Dixon will lead the front row of the grid where he will be joined by Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Augusto Fernandez and fellow Brit Sam Lowes on the Elf Marc VDS Racing Kalex.

Beaubier will start from the middle of row four, flanked on either side by 2021 Moto3 World Champion Pedro Acosta and Fermin Aldeguer. Acosta, however, will be forced to take a long-lap penalty in the race as punishment for crashing in a section of the track that featured waving caution flags.
