Two-Wheel Tuesday Spotlight: #40 M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R600 Supersport
Sean Dylan Kelly raced this middleweight mauler to his first professional motorcycle road racing championship, and he did so in dominating fashion, finishing on the podium in all but one race this entire past season. Photo by Brian J. Nelson.
The potential that Team Hammer saw when they signed Sean Dylan Kelly following the 2018 MotoAmerica season paid off big-time in 2021. In “SDK’s” third season with the M4 ECSTAR Suzuki Supersport team, he battled hard with defending class champion Richie Escalante in every race during the 2021 season. The racing was close on the track, but it wasn’t nearly as close in the results. Kelly won a total of 12 of the 18 Supersport races on the season, including a run of six victories in a row. In five other races, he finished second, and he only finished off the podium in one single race all year. No wonder the Floridian has been signed to compete in the 2022 Moto2 World Championship as Cameron Beaubier’s teammate on the American Racing team.
