Italtrans Racing’s Joe Roberts and American Racing’s Cameron Beaubier will start tomorrow’s German Moto2 Grand Prix from inside the top 10 at the Sachsenring with the two Americans ending Saturday’s Q2 session in ninth and 10th, respectively.

It was Roberts who led the two MotoAmericans with his 1:24.134 coming on his third of nine laps in Q2 and that placed him ninth and on the third row for tomorrow’s GP. Roberts was just .641 of a second from pole position.

Beaubier’s best came on his seventh of nine laps, his 1:24.222 just .088 of a second behind Roberts and .729 of a second from pole position. Beaubier will start the race one row behind Roberts on the inside of row four.

Elf Marc VDS Racing’s Sam Lowes earned pole position for tomorrow’s race, the Brit lapping at 1:23.493 to best GASGAS Aspar Team’s Albert Arnenas by .272 of a second. Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Augusto Fernandez will complete the front row of the grid.

World Championship points leader Celestino Vietti, meanwhile, will start the race next to Roberts after qualifying eighth on his Mooney VR46 Racing Kalex.

American Racing’s Sean Dylan Kelly had his best qualifying performance. Although the Floridian didn’t make it through to Q2, he did end Q1 a season-high ninth.
