The Grass Roots Of Mission King Of The Baggers

There are some heavy hitters and big names competing in the 2021 Mission King Of The Baggers Championship. Indian and Harley-Davidson. Roland Sands Design, Vance & Hines, and S&S Cycle. Tyler O’Hara, Kyle Wyman, and Hayden Gillim.

But, along with those big names are some riders and teams who are competing on a more modest budget. Among the grass roots efforts in the three-round series is Eric Stahl.

Owner of Jiffy Tune Racing, Stahl is a California canyon-carver with a deep passion for racing Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He fulfilled a dream last year when he participated in the one-round 2020 King Of The Baggers Invitational at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca aboard Alloy Art MFG Co.’s Harley-Davidson Road King.

For this year’s Mission King Of The Baggers Championship, Stahl’s racing program is a completely privateer effort. With support from Big Bear Performance, House of Harley-Davidson, Lyndall Brakes, Bulletproof Snacks, and more, Stahl transformed a Big Twin Harley-Davidson Electra Glide touring motorcycle into a purpose-built race bike.

The motorcycle is a conglomeration of some high-dollar items like the Öhlins suspension, handmade pieces like the modified rear swingarm, and even some bare-bones accoutrements like the duct-tape covered seat. Stahl is a former Harley-Davidson XR1200 racer, and his Baggers bike has one of the most aggressive riding positions in the entire MotoAmerica paddock, with rearsets mounted high and really far back, which puts him in a position where he says he can attack the race course.

It was Stahl’s first trip to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, and obviously, his first time racing a Baggers bike around the 12-turn, 2.54-mile road course, but he enjoyed every second of it. Being in the MotoAmerica paddock is a very exciting thing for Stahl, and he is looking forward to letting his Jiffy Tune Racing Harley-Davidson Electra Glide stretch its legs at round two on Road America’s 4.05-mile, 14-turn “National Park of Speed.”
