Roberts 10th, Beaubier 19th In Day Two Of Qatar Moto2 Testing

Joe Roberts ended day two of the Moto2 test in Qatar 10th fastest. Fellow MotoAmerican Cameron Beaubier was 19th.

The two MotoAmericans in the Moto2 World Championship ended today’s third session of preseason testing at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar nestled nicely in the top 20 with Italtrans Racing Team’s Joe Roberts and American Racing Team’s Cameron Beaubier ending the day 10th and 19th, respectively.

Roberts’ best lap of the day, a 1:59.245, came on his 19th of 20 laps, and it was .299 of a second better than his best from Friday which had landed him in third at the end of the first day. Roberts, who earned his first career Moto2 pole last year in Qatar with a 1:58.136, didn’t take part in the first two sessions today.

Beaubier, meanwhile, showed big improvement on day two, the five-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion breaking into the top 20 with the 19th-fastest time coming on his 18th of 20 laps in today’s third session. His best lap put him just 1.001 seconds from the top – a 1:58.832 set by Petronas Sprinta Racing’s Xavi Vierge in today’s third session – and 1.011 faster than he went yesterday. Inde Aspar Team’s Aron Canet ended the day second fastest with Jorge Navarro third on the MB Conveyors Speed Up Boscoscuro. Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Remy Gardner and Petronas Sprinta Racing’s Jake Dixon rounded out the top five.
