Razgatlioglu Leads Misano Test; Gerloff Fifth Fastest On Day One

Former two-time MotoAmerica Supersport Champion Garrett Gerloff ended the opening day of the two-day World Superbike test in Misano with the fifth-fastest time.

PATA Yamaha WorldSBK Team’s Toprak Razgatlioglu set the pace on the opening day of World Superbike testing at the Misano World Circuit in Italy, the Turk lapping at a best of 1:34.265 which ws faster than Jonathan Rea’s lap record from race two in 2015. Texan Garrett Gerloff, meanwhile, ended the day with the fifth quickest lap on his GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team YZF-R1.

Gerloff’s best lap was a 1:35.264, just .999 of a second slower than Razgatlioglu. Gerloff completed 34 laps with Razgatloglu turning in 71 laps. Gerloff had a crash in the morning session on cold tires but ended that session fourth fastest with what would be his fastest lap of the day.

Aruba.It Racing’s Scott Redding ended day one second on the timesheets, .213 of a second off Razgatlioglu’s best, with his teammate Michael Ruben Rinaldi third fastest and the last rider to lap in the 1:34s.

Series rookie Axel Bassani was impressive on his Motocorsa Racing Ducati Panigale V4 R, the 21-year-old Italian ending the day fourth on the timesheets.

Team GoEleven’s Chaz Davies wasn’t able to make the trip to Misano after testing positive for COVID-19.

The test at Misano continues tomorrow.
