On April 24, Joe Roberts became the first American since John Kocinski in 1990 to win an intermediate class Grand Prix when he took victory in the Grand Prix of Portugal at Portimao. The win was Roberts’ first in World Championship racing and to say it lifted a gorilla-sized monkey from his back would be an understatement. With 15 rounds to go in the battle for the Moto2 World Championship, Roberts not only finds himself as a Grand Prix winner, he also sits fifth in the title chase. We caught up with Roberts from his in-season home on the coast of Spain to talk about his victory and more on this week’s episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.
