MotoAmerica Volunteers: The Best Seats In The House

Whether it’s Canada Corner at Road America, The Corkscrew at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, or beneath the pine trees along the backstretch at Barber Motorsports Park, every racetrack on the MotoAmerica schedule has its favorite spots where spectators like to gather and watch our races. And, with nine picturesque and action-packed venues, opinions vary on which tracks, and which sections of which tracks, offer the best seat in the house.

In our opinion, the corner marshals who volunteer to help us, without a doubt, have the very best seats in the house. They’re closest to the on-track action and aren’t really in seats at all because our corner marshals play a vital and active role at our events.

Under the expert guidance of our Chief Marshal David Hawley, volunteers learn the ways and means of being a cornerworker at our events, including understanding our flagging and light signaling systems, how to help a downed rider and bike, and all the other nuances of being a track marshal. The marshals have an important job to do, but one of the most rewarding aspects of that job is that you play a vital role at our events. You’re not just spectating, you are participating.

Serving as a corner marshal is the most important way that you can volunteer for MotoAmerica, but it is definitely not the only way. We also need people to help us on the starting grid, in tech inspection, and in our hospitality.

So, this season, rather than just go to the races, why not be part of the races? Volunteer to help the sport you love.
