Altus Motorsports is one of the original MotoAmerica teams, and both organizations have grown symbiotically since joining together in 2015. For 2023, the Oklahoma-based racing team has announced part of its rider lineup, with New Jerseyan Joseph LiMandri Jr. and Kentuckian Alessandro Di Mario joining incumbent rider Jaret Nassaney on the team’s iconic blue-and-yellow liveried motorcycles.
Team owner George Nassaney commented, “It’s been a busy off-season already. Suzuki is back on board for our Stock 1000, Superbike Cup, and Supersport efforts, and Yamaha has jumped in to help out our Twins Cup program. Also, we’re expanding our staff for 2023 to more effectively support the riders.”
REV’IT! Twins Cup
After a few years away from the REV’IT! Twins Cup Championship, Altus Motorsports returns to the class with a Yamaha YZF-R7 piloted by LiMandri Jr. The 17-year-old started racing at the age of eight with NJ MiniGP and has spent the past three seasons competing in the SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup Championship. LiMandri Jr. finished fourth in the 2022 final standings, and he was just 23 points back of the class champion. He steps up to Twins Cup for 2023 and, in spite of having to learn a new bike, expects to be in the championship hunt.
“Altus is a good team that has proven they can win championships,” LiMandri Jr. said. “I am excited that I won’t have to worry about the bike. I can just focus on myself and show up to each round ready to fight for wins”
SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup
2022 North America Talent Cup Champion and 2022 Nicky Hayden AMA Road Race Horizon Award winner Di Mario will join the team to race in the SportbikeTrackGear.com Junior Cup Championship aboard the Altus Motorsports Kawasaki Ninja 400. The currently 13-year-old, Italian-born rider has lived in Kentucky for the past decade and is currently training in Spain in preparation for the upcoming season.
“We are excited to have Alessandro join the team,” commented George Nassaney. “His amazing talent is matched by his incredible work ethic and commitment.”
Supersport
Jaret Nassaney will again compete in the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship aboard a Suzuki GSX-R750. He finished seventh in the 2022 final standings and aims to better that in 2023. Nassaney has been racing in Supersport since 2017 and is looking to continue his growth in the upcoming season.
He said, “We ended the season strong, and we want to carry that into the 2023 season. We are looking to do some winter testing and start next season where we left off.”
Yuasa Stock 1000 and Superbike Cup
Altus Motorsports has notched two class titles and two Cup championships aboard literbikes over the past few years, and they plan to continue their tradition of excellence in the Yuasa Stock 1000 Championship and also the Superbike Cup. With their proven Suzuki GSX-R1000 machinery, an experienced staff, and reputation for fielding quality riders, the only thing holding the team back for 2023 is money.
“Getting financial sponsorship is always a challenge, but the current economic landscape makes it even more difficult,” said George Nassaney. “Altus Motorsports has what it takes to win championships. We have the motorcycles and the mechanics, and, if we can get the funds, we can sign a rider who can be on the podium consistently.”
Stay tuned for more news to come on the Altus Motorsports Stock 1000 and Superbike Cup programs.
