American Racing’s Cameron Beaubier will start the season-opening Grand Prix of Qatar at the Losail International Circuit from the fourth row after posting the 11th fastest time on Saturday evening and countryman Joe Roberts will line up right behind him in the middle of the fifth row on his Italtrans Racing Kalex. Beaubier’s teammate Sean Dylan Kelly, meanwhile, will start his first Grand Prix in Qatar from the 10th row after qualifying 28th.

Beaubier’s best lap, a 1:59.551, came on his second of seven laps as yellow flags wreaked havoc on several riders’ fastest laps, including Sam Lowes who saw his pole-position lap taken away as he was dropped to third.

Roberts’ best was a 1:59.671 and it came on his fourth of seven laps. Roberts is the Moto2 track record holder at Losail with a 1:58.136 that was set in 2020.

Kelly qualified 28th with a 2:01.201 and will compete in his first Moto2 race as a full-time competitor tomorrow.

Mooney VR46 Racing’s Celestino Vietti will start the race from pole position with his 1:59.082. The Italian will be joined at the front of the grid by Elf Marc VDS Racing teammates Tony Arbolino and Lowes.
